Yes, that is little Miss Poker Face herself, as she appears on the cover of her next single, “Applause.”

Two years ago I wrote about turning 25, and how I admired, but often compared my life to Lady Gaga.  However, it’s been several months since I’ve heard anything about the controversial singer-songwriter.  Could it be that even the mega super star hit a slump?

Turns out the native New Yorker suffered a serious hip injury that caused her to cancel her last Born This Way Ball tour.

As she put it, “I had broken my hip. Nobody knew, and I haven’t even told the fans yet,” she said to Women’s Wear Daily. “But when we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip. I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage. The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer.”

In her most recent interview she also mentioned how this was the first time since she was fourteen that she had taken such a long break from performing.  Talk about being a workaholic!  But not to fear little monsters, mama is coming back soon.  She is expected to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 25, where rumor has it she will be performing “Applause,” a single from her next album ARTPOP.

Her latest album is due on November 11, with an August 19 presale date. Who’s ready for some new stuff?
