Queen Bee and “Chica Dorada” Embrace Change
Recently two superstars have caused a stir after they revealed their dramatic new looks and it was almost like they both agreed to do it on the same day.
Yesterday, Queen Bee unveiled her “champagne blonde” pixie cut, a look that caused mixed reactions in just the past 24 hours. Many even questioned the validity of the cut, speculating that it could possibly just be a wig, like many Hollywood stars are known to rock. However, today Mrs. Carter’s hair stylist, Rita Hazan, confirms that the cut is indeed for real and has released the following statement to Us Weekly:
“I was shocked. I think she was just feeling empowered, like a strong woman, and she said she’s been feeling it for a long time,” says Hazan, “She didn’t want to hide behind her hair in real life.”
Personally, I was one of many fans that wasn’t quite fond of the new do, but as a woman who is constantly changing her hair color from season to season, I can understand why Bey was ready for a new look, and if Rihanna and Miley Cyrus can do it, my girl Beyoncé can rock it too, after all she is a Grown Woman.
Similarly, in Mexico, Latin pop artist, Paulina Rubio, also bared her new tresses through social media. The ex coach of the Mexican reality TV show, La Voz Mexico, which is the Spanish version of The Voice, dyed her hair red.
Now for those who have only recently been exposed to the star might not consider this a bold move, but in reality this is huge! Since a kid, Rubio, which also means “blond” in Spanish, has been known to her fans as La Chica Dorada (“The Golden Girl”) for decades! Like Madonna’s gap, Pau’s blond curls have been her signature trademark, but it appears that the singer is ready for a new step in her life and artistic career.
She declared the following statement which I have translated for you today, as it was originally published in Spanish:
“I believe that we are all in a constant metamorphosis. To my fans, the only thing I can tell you is to not be afraid of change, and not only a hair change because it the simplest thing to do, but a spiritual change which will only occur if you allow it instead of going against these changes.”
Yesterday on Twitter she even mentioned how her whole house is now red, including her pool, much like the color of her blood. In another tweet she proclaims, “I am the girl of fire…soy la chica d fuego.”
I don’t know about y’all, but I am loving this attitude among our female entertainers, it is definitely making a statement to all women worldwide, and that is to embrace change.
